Wonderful time, busy schedule, saw old friends, made new ones, and got my ‘enthusiasm tanks’ topped off for another few months.
Detailed debrief later. Only got 2 hours of sleep last night, so some exhaustion-illness-prevention is in order.

With regards to my previous post, where I said that I suspected that WOTC’s announcement that they’re revising the GSL was primarily to deflect criticism at GenCon?
From Scott Rouse:
“Linae and I wanted to actually release the changes to the license prior to the show but when it became clear that wasn’t going to happen we decided to make the announcement of our intentions to stem off questions regarding the license.”
I have to admit, I like the candor.
WOTC to release Revised GSL and SRD:
“We recognize the important role third party publishing support plays in the success of the 4th Edition of Dungeons & Dragons. We have listened to the community and our valued colleagues and have taken their concerns and recommendations to heart. Our commitment to the health of the industry and hobby gaming lifestyle is reflected in the revisions to the Game System License.”
–Linae Foster D&D Licensing Manager
Of course, on ENWorld, she also said that they wanted it out before GenCon, but when she realized that “wasn’t going to happen”, she pushed for the announcement.
Is it sad that at this point, I half-suspect that this announcement is nothing more than an attempt to deflect criticism at GenCon?
