Bush’s Choice for DCIA

Bush’s nominee for the position of CIA director is Florida congressman Porter Goss, who used to be an operative himself.

What kind of director would he be?

Last year, in an interview with a Florida newspaper, Goss claimed that the uproar over the White House purposefully identifying a covert CIA agent (who just happened to be the wife of an outspoken critic of the Administration) was nothing more than partisan politics, and didn’t merit any kind of investigation at all. Never mind that knowingly blowing her cover was a felony…

Goss claimed that he didn’t think there was evidence to merit an investigation. When asked what sort of evidence would prompt him to consider investigation, he said:

“Somebody sends me a blue dress and some DNA, I’ll have an investigation.”

Nice, eh?
