Sukiyaki Western: Django

The relentless march of mash-up media continues.

Japanese director Takashi Miike is releasing a new film called Sukiyaki Western: Django — which is a semi-remake of the western Django, but set in Japan in the 1100s….but with guns….and cowboys…and, apparently, a cameo by Quentin Tarantino as “Ringo.”

The absolutely brilliant trailer:

Various

1. Back on campus, working on the novel. There’s a new student orientation thing going on in my usual writing area (for transfer students, and folks starting in the summer semester), so I’m surrounded by teenagers with various expressions ranging from confusion to abject terror. I should probably find someplace else to set up and work, but I’m a creature of habit.

2. Apparently my writing group has disintegrated, just at the point where I was finally producing something. Frustrating isn’t quite the word I’m looking for, here.

3. Random question of the morning: “Are you a geologist?” Not sure what prompted that. Maybe I look geologistish, or something.

4. As seen on various friend’s journals: If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don’t speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want — good or bad. When you’re finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

Back to work, surrounded by little lost lambs, and people searching for geologists.
