Steven Bradbury, the acting Deputy Attorney General, and head of the Justice Department’s office of legal counsel, testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday.
He was questioned by Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) about the President’s bizarre interpretation of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Hamdan case (Bush has said that it upholds his position on Guantanimo, when in fact it does not).
Watch the exchange here. (Quicktime movie)
The terrifying thing? Check the transcript:
LEAHY: Was the President right or was he wrong?
BRADBURY: The President is always right.
That is the statement from the fucking HEAD of the Justice Department’s office of legal counsel. That the President is always right.
But hey — point out that we appear to be living in a fascist dictatorship and you’re the moonbat, right?
Uhhh.. Could he have possibly have meant The Pope?
Holy fuck.
He said that with a straight face.
Holy fuck.
Terrifying doesn’t even begin to describe it.
D.
I was gonna make a Pope comment myself…
?!?!?!WTF?!?!? they cut off Leahy’s response! Do you know what he said?!?
‘Fraid not. Somehow I doubt it was anything worthwhile.
