Roger Ebert reviews STAR TREK, and slams it for…being a Space Opera.
No, I’m not kidding. He actually spends a paragraph criticizing “warp speed” as a method of screenwriter convenience.
The mind boggles.

Spotted on Chris Roberson’s blog:
Ruben Procopio’s Masked Avenger Studios, who did the excellent Green Hornet and Kato statue that I posted about a while back, are doing a statue of Dave Stevens’ Rocketeer for Electric Tiki Studios in the 3rd Quarter of 2009.
I’m sure it’s going to be pricey. But WOW do I want this:
Amazon is rolling out the new Kindle DX — with a 9.7″ viewing screen….and, perhaps most significantly: native PDF support.
From what I’m hearing, this sucker was aimed solidly at the incredibly lucrative college textbook market… and as the promo video says, the PDF support and larger screen makes it easy to read “charts and maps” — which means that this sucker has *definite* application to the RPG publishing business.
Very interesting.
