New Obama Speech — on Iraq

To mark the fifth anniversary of the Iraq war, Obama made another major speech today —

I haven’t yet found full video of this one yet, but the complete text is here.

One of the better quotes:

“We have a security gap when candidates say they will follow Osama bin Laden to the gates of hell, but refuse to follow him where he actually goes. What we need in our next Commander in Chief is not a stubborn refusal to acknowledge reality or empty rhetoric about 3AM phone calls. What we need is a pragmatic strategy that focuses on fighting our real enemies, rebuilding alliances, and renewing our engagement with the world’s people.”“

Minion For TEH WIN.

We just got notification from one of The Minion’s top three school choices.

She’s been accepted at NYU.

We don’t know any details on the package she’s being offered (we only got the “Congratulations!” card), but still.

Me? PROUD AS HELL.

Her? I’ll let you know, once she stops hyperventilating.

The Bank Job

, The Minion and I went to see The Bank Job last night.

The filmmakers claim that they had a “Deep Throat” insider who told them the true story surrounding the 1971 robbery of Lloyd’s Bank in London. At the time, news reporting of the crime was supressed via the issuing of a “D-Notice” gag order by the government, allegedly to protect a member of the Royal Family, as well as some highly-placed political figures.

Excellent film — equal parts heist caper, political thriller and espionage film. Well worth your time, and most likely to fade from theaters fairly quickly as we get into the blitz of the spring releases….
