Readers who remember my entry on the British memo will find this of interest:
CNN has just released a story (not a lead story, mind you…I guess we can’t ask for actual journalistic integrity) under the headline: “Bush asked to explain UK war memo”.
Eighty-nine Democratic members of the U.S. Congress, headed by House Judiciary Committee member John Conyers (Michigan) have sent Bush an official letter asking for explanation of the secret British memo that said “intelligence and facts were being fixed” to support the Iraq war in mid-2002.
They sent the letter LAST FUCKING WEEK. The memo was made public on MAY FIRST. CNN is just posting the story today.
(In the time that it’s taken me to type this, the story link has moved from the “politics” section of the CNN website, to the main window. That’s a good sign, I guess. However, it’s positioned as, essentially, a “related news item” to the lead story about today’s bombing in Iraq. I doubt it will ever get higher placement than that.)
