Speaking of photos: A friend of mine went through the video of Colbert’s speech/roast, and pulled out stills from every audience shot, and highlighted the ones who weren’t enjoying it. Turns out there weren’t many.
He said that he did it because he doesn’t trust audio; microphone placement and sound mixing can completely distort what the actual experience was like. (Q.v. the “Dean scream” back in ’04.)
