Sorry that I’m a bit late this week — spent the morning on my six-month post-cancer-surgey follow up visits. (Everything looks good)

So, this week:

and I began watching The Rescue (Dennis Leary’s TV show about the FDNY) on DVD. The music in the series is very cool (apparently, Leary’s son picks the tracks). Here is the main theme: The Von Bondies – “C’Mon C’Mon.”

Another great track from Kula Shaker, from their second album, Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts: Kula Shaker – “Mystical Machine Gun.”

Timbaland (for those who haven’t heard of him) is a producer who has crafted beats for people like Missy Elliot, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado and more. He also does his own hip-hop work. I’m a huge fan of his production skills — for example, this track, which was built around a sample of Nina Simone’s “Sinnerman”, which he chopped up, folded, spindled and warped into: Timbaland – “Oh Timbaland.”

A blistering track from Danzig’s second album, Danzig II Lucifuge, from way before the man became a self-charicature…back when his work was filled with blues-influenced hard-driving music and Jim-Morrison-From-Beyond-The-Grave vocals: Danzig – “Long Way Back From Hell.”

Lastly, I’ve got two really great mash-ups for you:

First up, DJ Moule takes Prodigy, Queen and some Jimmy Page guitar, and gives us: DJ Moule – “Rock Your Poison.”

and here is CCC, who takes “Fool’s Gold” by the Stone Roses, “Sexual Healing” by Marvin Gaye, and “La Femme D’Argent” by Air, and gives us this bit of brilliance: CCC – “La Fool D’Argent.”

There you go. Enjoy!

Sounded like a fun thing to do over my lunch break. So:
