Posting this mostly for journaling purposes — I was looking at the 2008 and 2004 elections from my heavier-blogging days, and realized that I really should have something here on 2012. Rather than go through the time and trouble of saying things that other people have already said, or that I said myself on social media last night, I decided that I’d use the opportunity to instead just copy my twitter posts from election night, as it happened (tweets from others are, obviously, things that I re-tweeted):

…also watching Evangelical Christian votes flooding in for a guy whose religion they considered a "cult" pre-2012. #yayprogress?

Seriously proud of my oldest, @askarka, who worked as a legal observer today in PA.

Bill O'Reilly claims Obama will win "because it's not a traditional America anymore. White establishment is minority. People want things."

Although losing a Senate race is a horrible thing, the resulting spare time to spend with family and reflect is a gift from God …

Bad couple of weeks to be a math-and-science-denying conservative, huh? Climate change and statistics are real, bitches.

Hey cool, it turns out that YOU CAN'T LIE left, right & sideways to the public and still become president. #RomneyLoses #ObamaElected
— Laura H Skarka (@lhskarka) November 7, 2012
Here we go, folks. Romney is refusing to concede Ohio. His rules-lawyering in the debates should've made us see this coming.

So at this point, the GOP strategy comes down to "Nuh-uh, I *called* it."

Not holding breath for responsible GOP leaders to step forward & repudiate Trump's call for revolution, or for Mitt to gracefully concede.
— Gareth M. Skarka ↙️↙️↙️ (@gmskarka) November 7, 2012
With cries of "illegitimate!"&"revolution!" coming from mainstream GOPers, if Romney doesn't concede, that's dangerously fanning the flames.

Puerto Rico has voted to become a state — but it would have to be approved by Congress. Not hopeful, given lunatic fringe in House.

Romney has called Obama. He has conceded and will address his supporters in 5 minutes. Thank fucking god.
