From the CBS News story about the incident, this disturbing little tidbit:
Curiouser and curiouser.
Add that to the fact that at today’s Press Conference (as seen at the bottom of this story, in the update section), the White House press secretary said that Bush and senior aides were told Saturday night by the staff of the White House Situation Room that somebody in the Cheney’s hunting party was shot, but they were not told until Sunday morning that Cheney was the shooter.
How is it that the VP of the most powerful nation of the world could shoot somebody — within view of several witnesses, including, presumably, a contingent of Secret Service agents — and the president doesn’t hear about it until a day later?
Doesn’t that strike anybody as odd?
Again, I hate that this stuff makes me sound like some kind of conspiracy theorist….but fer chrissakes, with this Administration, what choice do ya have?
There’s a simple explanation for all this. Cheney is too old to enlist in the armed forces to go kill some brown-skinned people, so he thought he’d do the next best thing: bag himself another American. Since he couldn’t get any GenX liberals to join him on the safari, er, hunting trip, he was able to get a septigenarian lawyer. “Like shooting fish in a barrel,” Cheney was heard quipping after the incident. “I hope to move up to Katrina survivors on the next outing,” he mused.
This whole thing just ain’t passing the “sniff” test.
Given that this is Texas we’re talking about, I could see it going one of two ways. Either it gets swept under the rug, or a DA is going to go in guns blazing, with warrents to arrest Secret Service agents for obstruction of justice.
Again, I hate that this stuff makes me sound like some kind of conspiracy theorist….but fer chrissakes, with this Administration, what choice do ya have?
I feel your pain…I used to laugh at the sorts of assertions I now make on a regular basis.
You’ve been Valentined!
