“Been Around the World and Found That Only Stupid People Are Breeding…”

Harvey Danger sang that back in the 90s, in the song “Flagpole Sitta,” and it’s as true now as it was then:

In today’s Wall Street Journal, Syracuse University professor Arthur C. Brooks presents his theory of why Conservatives keep winning elections:

Liberals don’t procreate enough.

“According to the 2004 General Social Survey, if you picked 100 unrelated politically liberal adults at random, you would find that they had, between them, 147 children. If you picked 100 conservatives, you would find 208 kids. That’s a ‘fertility gap’ of 41 percent. Given that about 80 percent of people with an identifiable party preference grow up to vote the same way as their parents, this gap translates into lots more little Republicans than little Democrats to vote in future elections. Over the past 30 years this gap has not been below 20 percent — explaining, to a large extent, the current ineffectiveness of liberal youth voter campaigns today.”

Scary. We’re being out-bred.

So come on, Progressives! Fuck for Freedom!

  1. You forget this part Phil:

Given that about 80 percent of people with an identifiable party preference grow up to vote the same way as their parents…

    ;)

  2. They may go against their parents when they’re in their teens and twenty’s, but I think the idea is that they tend back to the same pov as their parents as they grow older.

  3. This is why Democrats need to learn to take advantage of the Holy 2nd Amendment: shoot Republicans, adopt their kids, and raise them as Democrats.

  4. I’m w/ you…

don’t ALL children rebel against their parents? That’s one reason WE didn’t have any- they’d be little blonde football playing homophobic Republicans.

    Kinda like my step-brother. ;-)

  5. Yes but how many of those kids are either inbred or born to Catholic parents? Or, you know, both. ;)

I like to think that the Liberals are more responsible and know how to use their contraceptives correctly.

  6. True, Berkie, but unfortunately, you don’t have to pass an IQ test to vote. In fact, any type of test against voting rights is unconstitutional. Kinda sad that the inbreds who belive that gheys are teh evil and a vengeful sky ghost should dictate public policy has the same voting rights as you or I. But necessary so we know where they are and be able to point and laugh at them.

  7. I do agree… I also think we need to work more on the people who are eligible to vote but aren’t registering… that might help close the gap.
