Keith Olbermann will do one of his “Special Comments” tonight, and for the first time, his target will be a Democrat. Specifically, Hillary Clinton and her campaign.
Apparently, Clinton campaigner Geraldine Ferarro’s claims that Obama is only where he is because he’s black (the same charge she made against Jesse Jackson in 1988, for those who are thinking it was merely a slip-up)….followed by her latest statement that she’s only being criticized because she’s white….and more telling still, the Clinton campaigns weasling statement that they merely “disagree” with her (rather than their insisitance that an Obama staffer be fired for calling Hillary a “monster, who would do anything to win.”)…..all of that has pushed Keith over the edge.
Expect him to unload on her, and every underhanded, slimy, race-baiting, goal-post-moving, party-destroying tactic she’s employed in this election.
Which, I expect, will have one of two effects — one, Democrats will stand up and say “right on!”…and the meme of her doing anything to win, and damaging the party’s chances in November purely for her own personal power will take hold, finally killing her campaign….
….or, more likely, she will play the victim card AGAIN, whip up some tears (or get self-righteously angry), there will be calls for Olbermann to be fired, or resign, for “attacking” her, Obama will be constantly hounded to distance himself and condemn Olbermann’s comments, and women will flock to Clinton’s defense in the remaining polls, keeping this thing going until the Convention in August (where she mathematically cannot win, without pushing the superdelegates to overturn the popular vote AND the pledged delegate count, which Obama holds and will continue to hold in August).
I’m really hoping for the former — but I’m expecting the latter. People are stupid.
