    I would bet, though, most people have familiarity with “Jack the Ripper” over “Rumble” thanks to the popularity of the flick, Desperado.

    It was certainly the centerpiece of his live show in his later years.

  2. “Jack the Ripper” is definitely more famous now. I really, really like “Rumble”, though. The whole slow groove thing is nasty….in all the right ways.

  3. I wholeheartedly agree with you. One can truly picture a scene somewhere in a sweaty smokefilled room with people dancing a nasty erotic variation of the stroll.

  4. How sad, though it’s a wonder he made it this long.

    I fell lucky enough to see him once. His signature is on the pickguard of my Strat.

    However, I will tell you that there is a dirtier take of Rumble. It was recorded a year or so after the one you posted. It’s slower, dirtier, and there’s an organ in the background. I’ve only got it on vinyl, but it is on the burn list soon.
