You probably haven’t heard about this, since the media is hyper-focused on the fact that a decrepit shock-jock said something shocking….
One of the things that the Congressional investigation into the firing of the US Attorneys has uncovered is that White House aids were using email accounts supplied by the RNC to discuss this stuff….email accounts which, conveniently enough, bypass the archiving requirement on all White House communications.
Well, Congress found out about those email accounts during their investigation (the use of RNC-provided exterior email accounts also came up during the Abramoff investigation), and requested those records as well.
Yesterday, the AP reported (in a story that appeared in a few minor locations — such as this linked story from the Fort Wayne journal-gazette,):
“The White House said Wednesday it had mishandled Republican Party-sponsored e-mail accounts used by nearly two dozen presidential aides, resulting in the loss of an undetermined number of e-mails concerning official White House business.
Deleted. Gone.
Edit: Apparently, the story is starting to be picked up today — see comments.
Actually, this was a lead story in the New York Times this morning.

Excellent. I’m happy to stand corrected on this. I hope we see it on the televised news tonight, as a result, because most of the country doesn’t read.
Sad, but true. Have good writing!
My favorite proposed name for this latest twist in the tale is “Mydogate.”
As in “Mydogate my homework.”
Just heard about it on my local all-news radio station. Then a quick surf to CNN shows http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/04/12/fired.prosecutors.ap/index.html
